HRH The Princess of Wales's Carol Service at Westminster Abbey

The Lieutenancy was invited to send eight people to attend HRH The Princess of Wales’s Carol Service on Friday 5 December. The Lieutenancy sent four young carers from Warwickshire Young Carers accompanied by two adults and two people from Leamington Boxing Club.

Sally Barton-Bodley from Warwickshire Young Carers shared their experience,

"We wanted to send our utmost gratitude to you for choosing Warwickshire Young Carers to attend the royal occasion at Westminster Abbey on Friday.

We were honoured and privileged to support 4 young carers to attend, and we can share their utter delight of this once in a lifetime experience. It was a truly magical experience for all of us and one that the young carers will remember for the rest of their lives.

As we boarded the train home, we received several messages that we had been spotted in the background of TV coverage and social images of Princess Catherine talking to the congregation. We were within feet of her as she spoke to people sat directly in front of us and were extremely fortunate that she gave us a hello and one of the young carers a wink. It was wonderful to see Prince William and the young family, along with other members of the royal family and lots of famous folk. We had the best of times and can’t thank you enough for giving young carers the opportunity to be recognised and celebrated through this service."
