Lord Lieutenant attends screening of The Sikh Soldier
The Lord Lieutenant was very pleased to be able to attend the screening of a film called "The Sikh Soldier" at Kings High Hall in Warwick on Sunday the 4th of February.
As the title suggests, it tells the story of a Sikh soldier who fought in the trenches during the Great War on behalf of the British Empire. It seeks to highlight the involvement of Indian soldiers in both World Wars.
The short film was made by Joe Archer and Sky Cheema, two young Midlands filmmakers over a period of three years. More than 300 people attended the free screening which was organised and part funded by two local organisations, the Gursewak Trust and the Sikh Heritage Association Warwick and Leamington.
